Grace Academy pitcher Alec Rose has signed with the Cleveland State baseball program.

Grace baseball coach Ruston Pierce said, "Alec is coming off a great junior season where he excelled at the plate and on the mound. He has been named All District 5-A regular season and tournament as a junior and sophomore.

"He's a strong athlete with a huge upside. He has a good frame to add mass, and he is already throwing in the upper 80's. With more strength he is only going to get better and better."

Cleveland State coach Mike Policastro said Rose has a "loose arm". He said he believes Rose will develop into a solid college pitcher.

During the summer and fall, Rose plays for the Chattanooga Cyclones baseball organization. Cyclones director George Koontz said he believes if Rose continues to develop he could definitely be a Division 1 prospect consistently throwing in the upper 80's and low 90's.

Alec chose Cleveland State after recruitment from Troy University, Belmont University, Lee University, King College, Motlow State and Columbia State.

Going into his senior season Rose currently stands in the top 5 of multiple offensive and defensive categories in the Grace baseball record books.
