Grace's Brandon Herman was honored Saturday night for surpassing 2,000 points in his career. The four-year starter eclipsed the mark Dec. 21 in the Times Free Press Best of Preps Tournament at Arts & Sciences.

"Ironically it happened against Tyner, where his dad, Geoff Herman, was an all-state player," Grace coach Jon Mattheiss said.

Mattheiss had missed the first two home games after the milestone because he was attending his in-laws' funerals in Michigan. The first home game he was back, the athletic department celebrated another senior guard, Terrell Church, for topping 1,000 career points Dec. 14 at home against South Pittsburg.

"Obviously they're going to be greatly missed when they graduate," Mattheiss said. "They not only can score, but they create for other people because they have the ability to score. They draw a lot of attention and can still score."
